Funny how after Twilight's success we have True Blood come out. After I watched the first episode and did some research I found out it was based off a book series, I decided to read the book Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. It was actually really good! Very hot too! I like it better than Twilight, but Twilight is still great in its own ways. After I read the first book I went out and bought the rest of the series. If you like vampires and the supernatural then I'd totally recommend this for you!
Dead Until Dark is the first installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series. It follows the adventures of the Bon Temps telepathic barmaid. In this universe Ms. Harris has the vampires come "out of the coffin" so to speak. Basically due to synthetic blood invented vampires revealed themselves to the world. With the synthetic blood they present themselves as no longer a threat since they don't need to feed off humans. The first book has Sookie meeting her first vampire, William "Bill" Compton, as none have lived Bon Temps since the Great Reveal. However, there are also strange murders occuring of waitresses and Sookie might be next! Vampire Bill becomes Sookie love interest as well. There are other numerous great characters. Sam Merlot, Sookie's boss, isn't all he seems either--you'll have to read the book to find out what he is though. Eric Northman is the local vampire sheriff and owner of the bar Fangtasia. (Yeah, Fangtasia.)
As of now there are 10 other books that follow Dead Until Dark; as well as an 11th book to be released in May 2010. As I don't want to ramble on about the other books here's a complete list of them in order.
